Description
Jose Rubio Classical guitar 1965 ( David) Jose Rubio concert guitar.Spruce topBrazilian rosewood back and sides Ebony fingerboarddouble arched caseThis magnificent Rubio was built in his golden New York period where he set up shop in 1963 before moving back to England in 1969.Julian Bream used a 1965 Rubio on his milestone recording 20th century guitar featuring Britten’s Nocturnal. The guitar featured here is in excellent condition with no cracks on the soundboard, very rare for a 60’s Rubio with the open harmonic bar. It features the early lace rosette made buy his wife and outstandingly beautiful old growth Brazilian rosewood. Not only is this one of the most beautiful sounding guitars I’ve played but it is also very gutsy and loud. There is a small repaired crack on the side of the headstock and the French polish has been touched up where a string made a mark behind the bridge. The action is 4mm on the bass E at the 12th fret and 3.5mm on the treble at the 12th fret. The nut is 51mmThe label is signed by Rubio it’s also signed and stamped under the top.If you want one of the best master Spruce guitars from the 20th century look no further.Happy bidding.
