Description
This is the deluxe laserdisc edition of THE COMPLETE SHOW BOAT, an extremely rare collection of four versions of the Jerome Kern musical classic SHOW BOAT. The 4-disc boxed set includes: 1) The 1929 Universal version which is only part-talkie, starring Laura La Plante, Joseph Schildkraut and Alma Rubens. 2) The 1936 Universal version which many considered the best screen adaptation, starring Irene Dunne, Allan Jones, Helen Morgan, Paul Robson and Charles Winninger. 3) Excerpts from the 1946 MGM musical TILL THE CLOUDS ROLL BY feauturing Kathryn Grayson, Tony Martin, Lena Horne, Virginia O'Brien and Caleb Peterson. 4) The 1951 MGM version starring Kathryn Grayson, Howard Keel, Ava Gardner, William Warfield, Marge & Gower Champion, Joe E. Brown and Agnes Moorehead. Remastered in Stereo. This collection also features film trailers, production stills and an extensive audio program from the 1951 version. Note: This is a laserdisc NOT a DVD, and it will NOT play on a DVD player!!!
