Description
If your dream has been to own a killer Martin dreadnought then look no farther. Here's a near mint condition Martin D-18GE Golden Era acoustic guitar. Built in 2004. Yes, it is pre-owned but the condition is not pre-played. I've seen new guitars on display at other dealers that show more wear than this. I could only find two impressions on the top (probably from a strap being placed on the guitar when the case was closed - not really a ding or nick) and a few pick marks on the pickguard only. No other nicks, dings, scuffs, or scratches of any kind. Any spots you may see are just light reflections. The frets are perfect. The neck is straight and true. It has no issues. Martin should be applauded - the beauty and simplicity of this guitar is as good as it gets. Next to that the craftsmanship is extraordinary - this guitar will restore your faith that Martin can still build an extraordinary instrument. I don't know enough superlatives to accurately to do justice to the description of incredible this guitar is. The sustain for a guitar this young is phenomenal. I've played many vintage guitars and this virtually brand new Martin is miles ahead of them. This guitar a really dry, warm sound which is incredibly loud yet clear and balanced at the same time. The tone is riveting. There are overtones and undertones across and up the neck all the way to the 14th fret. It is an acoustic cannon with subtlety and color. It is not for the timid nor for those enamoured with the tinkly-treblely, modern “Taylor” type or sound. Of course this professional guitar is all solid wood. Mahogany back and sides. Beautiful Adirondack Spruce top. Mahogany neck. Ebony fingerboard. Black body bindings. Brazilian peghead overlay. Bone nut. Cut through bone saddle. Perfect set up. The guitar has a D-Tar Wavelenght pickup (http://www.d-tar.com/wave_length.shtml) with the volume and tone module (http://www.d-tar.com/v_and_t_module.shtml) This is a versatile and amazing sounding pickup. It was professionally installed and set up by world famous luthier, Joe Glaser, in Nashville (http://www.d-tar.com/v_and_t_module.shtml) And a strap button was added.
