Description
Modern NATURAL HORN made by VMI (musikinstrumente vogtland) with 5 crooks & Case. I believe this to be made in the 1980's, but I really am not sure of it's age. It is lacquered and in beautiful condition. It has a beautiful flower engraving on the bell. The case is a little big (lots of protection, but it is a great design with padded sleeve for each crook -- very solid. I will regret not having this case. The Crooks and tuning: The "A" Crook is up to A = 440 when the horn is warm, with the tuning slide pushed all the way in. Pulled all the way out it gets down to G# at 440 The G crook seems the same - 440 fully pushed in, and down to F# pulled all the way out. There fore I would have to say the crooks are well tuned to the horn but the horn is built more on a lower pitch standard, but works at 440. I didn't test the other crooks for pitch range, but played them all with my tuner on at 440 and pitch was fine. There are five crooks A, G, F, Eb and D. This horn is in like new condition. The person I bought it from had not really played it, and I have played it less than 3 hours. It is a surprisingly loud horn. The opening for the mouthpiece seems a little big, but my modern mouthpiece fits tightly. I have recorded a short excerpt with each crook and posted them here: http://www.naturalhorn.com/vmi.html A Comparable new horn from Jiracek with the five crooks would cost at least $2250. Jiracek is part of the VMI group of instrument builders, so really this may be just like a Jiracek, but I am not sure which model if any of the current ones this would be. The bell throat is on the smaller size. For people in the US or Canada. Payment by bank check, money order or via Paypal with confirmed shipping addresses. Shipping is listed at $75, which is what the last horn I sold cost to ship. If it is more the $75, I'll pay the rest, including the insurance. If it's less, I will refund the difference. This shipping quote for this is for normal air shipping to US or Canada only. Not fast overnight nor by slow truck. For shipping to Europe or Japan I will charge exact postage cost, which I estimate to be OVER $200 for 10 day air, insured. For buyers not in North America, payment must be by Paypal. Thanks I will answer questions as fast as I can -- please ask. Also I'll include a free natural horn CD of mine with the horn. Your browser does not support JavaScript.
